Day 8!

Day 8  - Post your favorite deployment pic (a pic of see u laters, him coming home, or him deployed) and tell why it is your favorite

This picture is from when I left to go back to Michigan back in December.  Silly me completely forgot my camera when I went to MEPS the day that he shipped.  I am STILL very upset with myself.  I love it because every time I look at it I feel safe.  Let's face it what more could I ask for.   I will have a reunion picture of us though in just 27 more days!!!!!!!

Day 7!

Yes day 7 is a day late.  I know I'm slacking.  Yesterday was so hectic that I didn't have time to.   I woke up went shopping for things for a girls sleepover.  As I was shopping I was in such a great mood for I don't know what reason but I was.  I decided that I was going to buy Ross his new iPhone and send it to him as a surprise.  I went and spoke with the guys at AT&T and they reassured me that if bought his new phone his old one would still work as long as they didn't activate his SIM card.  So I went ahead and got him his new iPhone!!!

Well later that day I got a call from a weird number.  I didn't think anything of it and didn't answer because I was with a group of people.  It was Ross, they got phone privileges and guess what.... His phone wasn't working.  He called me from a pay phone.  Thank goodness I sent him with calling cards. Anyway I was LIVID!!!!   I hurried up and call AT&T and asked them what was going on.  As I was talking to him Ross had called his mom and she brought me the phone.  He was NOT happy.  But in the end we talked until the calling cards ran out.  By the time they ran out AT&T fixed it!!!  So yay for being able to talk to him even longer.

But they were able to call because orders were posted and as you can see I am headed to Kansas.... Still unsure of how I feel. I am however looking at it as an adventure.  Also, looking on the bright sides of things.  The hunting in Kansas is phenomenal.  :)

Day 7  - post a picture of a wonderful friend that you’ve made because of your s/o being in the military

This is actually Ross' best friend from high school.  Seeing as Ross is still in Basic I haven't met many people because he's in the military.  So instead I posted a picture of the person that helps me through things.  We have become very close.  I don't know what I would do with out him.

Meet the new Dorothy!

I know I am behind and I will catch up tonight.  Really quick though.  I got a call from Ross yesterday!!! Side note: Had big time issues with his phone I'll explain later. He got his FDS!  I was excited that was until he told me we are heading to Ft Riley, KS.  I am in complete shock right now.  That wasn't even on our radar of places.  I'm still SHOCKED.

Ok I'll write again later and catch up but for now this girl is going to try and wrap her head around moving to Kansas.

Day 6!

Sorry this is a little late.  But after the day I had yesterday I had to go to bed before something else happened.

It started out good. The mailman came extra early, and for those of you that have had a husband go through BCT you know what that mailman means to you.  After that it went down hill.  On monday I took my car to the mechanic to get a noise checked out.  I got the call yesterday, yulp going to cost $1000!!!  I do have to say one of the problems the mechanic said it was because who ever changed my breaks before didn't tighten it up.  Well Hello they were the ones that just did my breaks last month!!  But a girls gotta have her car....

Day 6  - post a picture of the base your man is at and tell 5 cool things about that base

I have yet to be to Fort Benning but I will try my best to think of 5 things so far.
  1. They are doing amazing things turning my hubby into well rounded man.
  2. His DS let his platoon call home at the end of only week 2!!  We have a friend that used to be a DS at Benning and when I told him this, after I got off the phone, he about had a heart attack he was so stunned.  He said to count my blessings because this NEVER happens.
  3. We reserved cabins on the premiss to stay in for both the 36 hour pass and graduation.
  4. It's only 6 hours from Orlando!!  Which is where I will be in 20 days!!!!!! And then I will be driving up from there.
  5. Fort Benning has my HUBBY!!!!  How much cooler can they get? ;)

Day 5!

Wow I can't believe that it is already day 5!  My countdown continues as I'll be in FL in just 22 VERY short days.  And in GA in 29 days!!!!!! Then I get to see the hubby in 30 days!!!  Time better continue to go fast.  I am getting more and more excited as the time goes by.

I have so much to do and so little time.  Here is my schedule for the rest of the time:

  • April 1 - Girl's "Sleep over" with my Mother in laws family in Dayton, OH
  • April 5-10 - Michigan - I am going to my hometown to visit with family.  Also, we are throwing a surprise med school graduation party for my brother.  It will be the first time since Thanksgiving we all got together.  Sadly, Ross isn't going to be there.  Everyone hasn't been together since my brother's wedding which was August 2009!!
  • April 16-20 - Dog sitting for my in laws.  They are off to Chicago for 5 days, and they aren't taking me... the nerve. LOL :)
  • April 21-28 - FLORIDA!!! I am going and visiting friends and hopefully getting a TAN! :)
  • April 28-May 1 - FORT BENNING!!!!!  I get to see the hubby!
Now on to the list of things that need to get done prior to me leaving for FLORIDA! (if you can't tell I LOVE lists)
  • Find a CUTE outfit to pick the hubby up for the pass
  • Get summer clothes for Florida.  I have actually lost almost 20 lbs since Ross has left so nothing fits me :)
  • Organize our storage unit
  • Get the new tags for the cars
Ok that's all that I can think of but I know there is more.

Day 5  - post a pic of the branch he is in and list your favorite thing about him being in the military:

Ross hasn't been in for long but I do have to say I love the pride that both of us have gained.  It is a different feeling now knowing that my husband is going to be protecting this country we love so much.

Day 4!

Today has been a very adventurous day.  On sunday when I spoke to Ross he wanted me to get him some cushioned socks and compression shorts to send to him.  Yesterday my MIL and I looked everywhere for the right socks NOTHING.  So we decided last night that we would head over to Wright Patt Air Force Base and go to the BX there.  I have never been on any type of military base, so I had no idea what to expect.  When we pulled up to the gate I instantly had an anxiety attack.  I felt as though I couldn't breathe. It was very odd especially for me.  I am usually a go with the flow type of girl but today.  I don't know what had gotten in to me.  My thinking is because the military is going to be my way of living now and I don't know hardly anything about it and it is stressing me out.

Day 4 - Post a picture of the family he had to leave behind to protect his country

His mom and dad.

Our dog Chloe and I

Day 3!

Today has been a day!  I got 2 yes 2 letters from Ross.  It makes my day.  Unfortunately the first letter was only one paragraph but hey I'll take whatever I can get.  The second letter though was amazing!!!  It was 5 pages long.  He is absolutely amazing.  I know I am being all mushy and lovey-dovey but do you blame me?  Every little thing that comes from him I cherish as though it was a million bucks!!!

Ok I guess onto the real reason for this post.

Day 3 - Post a a random pic of how u met (example computer for you met online, school for you met in high school) and tell the date you met. Did you know then that you’d be where you are with him today?

Ferris State University - Big Rapids, MI
Delta Chi - Ross' fraternity
Zeta Tau Alpha - My sorority

Ross and I met through the Greek system in 2004.  When we first met neither one of us were interested in dating at the time so we just said our hellos and went back to talking to friends.  Then came April 2005.  He came with one of my sorority sisters to our spring formal.  I was the DD and he sweetly hung out with me, the sober one.   After that night he was my hero because we spent all night talking and he helped me keep my sanity.  He actually started to hang out more with my sorority sister.  I thought at the time that they were dating he later told me that he only hung out with her so he could see me. Well the end of the semester hit and we all parted to go home for the summer.

Fall 2005 came and everyone rekindled and had laughs of what all happened over the summer.  I didn't see much of Ross because I was deep into my studying and didn't go out much.  Well one day my roommate talked me into going to lunch on campus and as we were walking out I thought I saw Ross walk by.  I turned around and yelled "Ross is my hero."  Sure enough it was him!  When he turned around and walked towards me I knew something was special about this boy.

From that day on we continued to see each other at the library and would talk.  It wasn't until one night when my sorority sisters peeled me away from my books that I saw him outside of the library.  He was the bartender at the bar we went to that night.  After a couple of liquid courage drinks and heavily flirting with him, I finally got the courage to just say screw it and ask him out.  I asked him when we were going to actually hang out outside of the library.  He said he was done with work in 30 min.   I was beyond excited!!

Well 15 min later he came up to me and asked for a rain check because that was the night that they were pinning their guys :(  I was sad because I thought he was just trying to blow me off.  Well I was leaving in the a.m. to go back home for the night for my uncle's birthday party.  So he said sunday he'd get a hold of me to come over and hang out.

Saturday went by so slow!!! I could barely sleep that night because I was so excited to go hang out with Ross.  Sunday came and I hurried and got everything ready to go back to school.  I arrived extra early to get all cute.  By cute I mean I put on a hoody and sweatpants.  Hey I'm a tom boy what can I say?

Finally after waiting what seemed like forever he called!! My heart dropped to my stomach! He asked if I wanted to come over and hang out.  Of course I said YES!  When I arrived there were a ton of people at his house.  We hung out with them for a bit then we went to his room and talked.  We talked about everything.  I remember thinking I can't believe how easy it is to talk to him!! Time flew by so fast and before we knew it it was 3 am! I had an 8 am class the next day.  He said that if I wanted to I could sleep in his bed and he would sleep on his couch.  I was embarrassed to take him up on his offer because I didn't want him to think that I was "easy" and stay the night the first time hanging out just him and me.  But we were friends before so I took him up on his offer.  Instead though we cuddled all night :)

After that we never left each other's side.  I love the man I married more than anything in the world.  He has helped me get through so much that words can not describe how much he means to me.

Day 2!

Sorry this is a day late but I got to talk to Ross yesterday!!!!!!!!! It was so amazing!  I love  how hearing his ringtone can brighten up my day. Also, how just the sound of his voice can lift every worry I had off my shoulders.  He called around 10:30.  I had to let him go for lunch chow, but he called back!!! We talked until dinner time.  Then we said our I love yous and hung up.  To my surprise though they got their phones back AFTER dinner!!!!  I loved every hour, minute, and second of it.

Day 2 - Post a picture of you and you military SO being silly.

This is Ross and I messing around after Gasparilla.  We stopped at Wet Willies.  Which if any of you have a chance to try it, it is AMAZING!!

My apologizes!!

Sorry I have been MIA but it has been crazy around here!  I said good bye to the hubby as he went off to BCT at Fort Benning.  I still can not believe that he's gone.

We had a blast before he left though.  Saw family members, had parties, went to Disney and Universal, and went to Gasparilla.  For those of you that may wonder what Gasparilla is, it takes place in Tampa, FL.

Gasparilla is basically a Mardi Gras but with Pirates and let's face it.  You are never too old for Pirates.  We went to the day parade which by the way was a 3 hour long parade.   It was a fun time and was great to spend it with the hubby before he left.

As for other news.  I just heard from the hubby today!!!!!!!  I was so excited to get his call.  He informed me that he is going DR tomorrow.  He and the others can not wait.  They have waited long enough.  Also, he let me know that I was approved as a dependent.

Yes we are married.  We have been married for almost 3 years.  But this monday I got a voicemail (because AT&T doesn't get good service here in MI where I am visiting) stating that he needs a new copy of our marriage license that according to the Army we are not technically married!!!!  I was freaking out. So I hurried up and got ready to go to the courthouse and get a new one.  Well as I was getting ready it dawned on me that I have to drive 2 hours to the place that we applied for a marriage license in order to get one.

I called the courthouse up there just to verify that I could get a copy on the same day.  The lady started to ask questions and search for our license.  She informed me that it was lost and they couldn't find it!!  I drove the 2 hours up to the courthouse to raise a lil.  Needless to say after approximately 45 minutes of being there they found it.  It was filed under the wrong name!!!!  Finally after almost 4 hours of dealing with the courthouse and others it was faxed down to Fort Benning.  So now you know why I was so excited to learn that I was approved as a dependent.

Now I just rambling on.  I promise to not desert y'all any more.  Just had to get a lil fun in prior to his departure.  I will however leave you with a picture that I received today.

I love this man.  But boy does he look goofy!!!!
